Devlog 0.22.2: A Real Hyper Beam

Gyarados’ Hyper Beam is fully hand-drawn, from the first spark to the very last puff of smoke.

What's new

• Charge: an energy orb grows in its mouth in three stages while the screen starts to shake.
• Fire: a burst at the mouth and a thick beam of raw energy that crosses the arena.
• Impact: the beam bursts against the target on every hit and ends in a big explosion.
• Recharge: Gyarados is left gasping, with steam and embers coming out of its mouth. Same damage, range and timing as before.
